Blog #121: There's a MONSTER at the end of this blog post.
WHAT'S THAT YOU SAY?
Don't worry Grover, I'm not talking about a real monster. I'm talking about the Green Monster Smoothie and I am in love. I've only been on the bandwagon for like 5 days BUT I've already noticed some very important trends since I've started drinking them in the morning.
1. I feel energized without going nuts on the coffee. In fact, I'm working on switching to tea more and don't go for it even until around 10am.(caffeine in coffee form is typically a necessity before 8am for me.)
2. I feel full and satisfied throughout the morning. I actually am not even that hungry for lunch type things until around 1:30pm or 2... and this is with drinking the smoothie before 7am.
3. I crave fresh, nutritious foods instead of junk
4. I'm more encouraged to get back into the workout groove. Now, I haven't actually full blown gone workout crazy YET. In fact, I tried to do a 30 day shred workout with Jillian Michaels yesterday and couldn't make it through. That's what grad school will do to you. In 3 years I went from running a half marathon to not being able to complete a 30 minute DVD workout. But, I'm more MOTIVATED because I've been monstering it up and that is my point.
5. I want to tell everyone about the Green Monster. This one is a little embarrassing because a) I kind of always thought those people were annoying and b) I'm so late on the bandwagon that everybody already knows. BUT IT'S SO GOOD YOU GUYS YOU DON'T EVEN UNDERSTAND.
I have been using this recipe from my favorite food blog, Iowa Girl Eats but am going to start experimenting with other flavors because we all know what happens when I get on a kick.

Blog #120: So very cold.
We've been getting very spoiled in the weather department this winter season and today Mother Nature was all "GRAVY TRAIN IS OVER, BITCHES."
Cold. Windy. Snow. I can hardly whine about it given the weather we've gotten to enjoy up to this point, but what I can whine about is how cold it is INSIDE at work. I've been chain drinking cups of coffee not for the caffeine but just for the heat. I finally had to stop when I felt so excited and so... scared. (SBTB reference.) It was so windy last night that there was a power outage and whenever that happens the heat in our hallway takes forever to adjust. All I know is that I feel chilled to the bone which is making being motivated to get anything done that can't be accomplished from my cocoon under a blanket at my desk fairly impossible.
That is neither here nor there. Here are some things I like today:
1. These are on their way to me as we speak. I can't wait for them.

Blog #119: Hey, 2012. 'Sup?
I guess it's time to welcome 2012 on the blog.
2012. It sounds so... futuristic. To be honest, I don't even know the best possible way to pronounce it. Twenty twelve? Two thousand and twelve? Twenty Dozen? Dirty Dozen 2k? Whatever, I'll consider it a victory when I stop writing "2010" on things. That's right, 2010.
Things are good. I'd venture to say really good. I'm graduated and therefore done with internship so my evenings and weekends are my own, which is a really pretty fantastic. I'm happily settled with the idea of spending at least a year in KC doing my own thing and figuring out one or two new things. That's going to be vague for a little bit longer. Maybe not too much longer.
Some random thoughts:
1. Life is weird. And awesome. I think I really like how things have a way of working out.
2. Sims Freeplay. If you have an iPhone at least. Best yet most addictive app ever.
3. So excited for some catch up time with a few of my favorite people this weekend, followed by a trip to STL to see one very important BFF the weekend after next.
4. Bright Eyes is SO GOOD.
5. Made a really sweet 2012 playlist on Spotify. If we're friends you should check it out. It's very reflective of how I perceive this year playing out.
6. I'm having a happy hour with a friend tonight BECAUSE I CAN DO THAT NOW. (When will this positively elated feeling of freedom fade? I hope never.)
7. I haven't found my sparkly tart Sweetheart conversation hearts by Necco yet but with the big V day only about a month away I have almost completed my first bag of Sweetarts Hearts Gummies, which if you don't know are basically like heart shaped purple sour gummy worms... SO THEY'RE AWESOME.
8. No matter how old I get, no matter what I'm doing, no matter how I feel: hearing this song on the radio makes me grin like an idiot:
9. I've been doing a pretty good job keeping up on writing this year so far. I mean, real writing in a journal, not on here obviously. I don't do it every day but I've kept up with it enough to feel like it's forming a regular habit. I also have a neat system where I am writing a phrase on every day of my awesome 2012 calendar to sum it up. It's fun.
10. Operation: Have a Respectable Apartment is coming along alright. I feel comfortable having certain people in my living room but my kitchen & bedroom still need an embarrassing amount of work. Maybe this week. Like Wednesday or something.

Blog #118: Things I did & Want to do
To review, in 2011 I:
Moved to a new & better office. Got heartbroken. Totaled my car on an icy highway. Had an awesome GNO with a limo from my boss. Got a new car. Got an iPhone. Saw every musical at Starlight. Traveled to Washington, Texas, Colorado, and Louisiana. Introduced my nephews to the mountains. Jumped out of an airplane. Had the best ever internship experience at Solace House. Went to my first country music concert. Went on my first business trip. Tried oysters. Chopped off my hair. Graduated with a Master's Degree and a cumulative 4.0. Made & consumed vodka gummy bears.
Here are 12 things I want to accomplish in 2012:
1. Read Gone With The Wind. Also on my reading list now that I'm done with grad school: The Help and The Hunger Games.
2. Visit NYC
3. Eat alone at a sit down restaurant
4. Keep a daily notebook.
5. Take a picture a day.
6. Work back up to my 20-mile week regimen once the weather warms up
7. Knit a scarf
8. Volunteer
9. Simplify - meaning I want to pare down & organize my belongings
10. Go on a float trip
11. Prepare a traditional home cooked meal with all parts made fresh or from scratch.
12. Send flowers to someone who needs a pick me up
I like the idea of a "2012 Bucket List" rather than resolutions. What do you want to do next year?

Blog #117: fourpointoh
Well, I am officially done with all things grad school. I had my last night as an intern at Solace House on Monday. So bittersweet. I cried. And then today my official final grades were posted... which means that I can legit claim that I maintained a cumulative 4.0 throughout grad school. I'm kind of a big deal.
Anyone who was thinking of giving me a Christmas or graduation present should just head on over to http://www.solacehouse.org/ and see what they're all about. Then mail them a check with however much you were going to spend on me. Counseling at Solace House was one of the best things I've ever gotten to do.
Hopefully within the next couple of weeks I'll have more exciting news to share. For now, Merry Christmas!

Blog #116: Okay, here are real things I like
"Stuff" really does add up and I ultimately tend to provide for myself and therefore if I want something enough will get it one way or the other, but here are some things on my "want" list right now. This could be considered a Christmas list I suppose, only whether I get any of these or anything at all for Christmas is of little consequence because I much prefer giving presents to others to getting presents. Not in a "holier than thou giving is better than receiving" way but rather in a "I feel awkward when people give me things and would much rather selfishly make them feel awkward by giving them something" way. So I'm less of a good person than you think.
Of the images below, some are less specific and more representative of an idea. For instance: Statement necklaces, knit scarves, cowls, bold colored blazers, over the knee socks, fun texture/color tights, and feather earrings in general are on my list. The Keurig and the One Pass are fairly specific, and I do really love that exact coat from Old Navy. Size small probably. Also: BARE MINERALS FTW.
